Myoko-Togakushi renzan National Park opened in 2015, making it one of Japan’s newest national parks. Bridging Niigata and Nagano prefectures, Myoko-Togakushi is home to a number of volcanoes, mountains and lakes. Mount Hiuchi, Mount Myoko and Mount Amakazari dominate the northern side. The Togakushi mountain range and the five shrines of Togakushi are the main attractions on the southern side, with Lake Nojiri to the east. n the summer, Lake Nojiri is a great base for a variety of recreational activities such as camping, kayaking and hiking. Venerable hot springs, serene ponds and dramatic waterfalls are abundant.
